Adventure Awaits with Our CrossFit City Guides

Summer is the season to hit the open road and fly the friendly skies, with a great big world waiting to be explored. Instead of banking up even more vacation hours, put them to good use on an adventure tasting authentic flavors, observing new cultures, or even just switching out that same old selfie backdrop.

One approach to a new city is to see it like a tourist, checking off famous attractions from your ever growing bucket list. For a more genuine experience, it's time to get up close with the local scene. Ask questions of people you follow on social media who live where you're visiting or seem to have vast knowledge of your destination.

Also think about how you'd find out this kind of information in your own home. Friends, families, coworkers are always willing to offer up recommendations for the best places to go. And that holds true everywhere you go. While those people might not be available to you when you travel, a welcoming community always awaits at a CrossFit box. Bond over a WOD, then ask them to point the way to places they think you'd be remiss to miss.

Need a starting point? We've mapped some of the coolest cities with boxes, delicious eats, places to chill out, and all-around attractions that will add more to your adventure. Pack your backs and jet off to Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and London for amazing memories sure to last a lifetime.

Perk up with an Energy+ Superfood Smoothie made with pineapple, strawberry, banana, coconut water, orange juice, maca, goji berry, oats, coconut palm nectar, and pink Himalayan salt.

Mana! Fast Slow Food —Not down with eating meat? Head to this wholesome cafe to grab globally inspired plant-based food made fresh every day. Before you worry that an herbivore meal is going to leave you hungry, try Mana!'s signature oven-baked flatbreads, salads, “burgers," and more to fill up and feel good doing it. After all, this foodie spot is on a mission to save the world, operating at zero-food waste using compostable and biodegradable packaging.

CrossFit 852 —Offering up to eight WOD classes a day as well as open gym hours on the weekends, CrossFit 852 is sure to have a time to get your sweat on while squeezing in as many sights and attractions as possible. This 1,200-square-foot facility features elite Rogue Fitness Olympics bars, a whopping 1,000 kg of plates, and all the high-quality equipment you need for your constantly varied workout of choice. Drop in to work out with a community that's as friendly and supportive as they are dedicated to giving their all.

Pure Yoga —For a moment of zen, unroll your mat at Pure Yoga, “a sanctuary of strength and spirit in the heart of the city." While some studios focus on one or two kinds of yoga styles, Pure Yoga has something for everyone. Traditionalists can choose from Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga, Mysore, Yin Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation. While those who prefer a contemporary practice can go for Power Yoga, Wall Rope Yoga, Aerial Yoga, and yoga dance classes.

Spa L'Occitane —An extension of the French-based chain of skincare, bath, and hair products, Spa L'Occitane offers a 3,000-square-foot natural refuge when you need a break from the busy city. Given their product line, every revitalizing face and body treatment for men and women is dedicated to improving skin's health. For serious pampering, choose a service in one of nine private VIP cabins offering hydrotherapy treatments, Provençal steam baths, and reserved relaxation areas.

CrossFit Lab —When celebrity sightings have you motivated to get your body in even better shape, head to LA's CrossFit Lab for one of nine different takes on the traditional WOD. In addition to Olympic lifting and mobility, class offerings focus on gymnastics, high-intensity training, endurance-fitness training, glute and core training, old-school weightlifting, and a blend of running and bodyweight movements. No matter which option you choose, world-renowned fitness experts, such as co-owners Yumi Lee and Ron Matthews, will put you through the paces and get you in red-carpet shape.

Playlist Yoga —Like your yoga the way you like your CrossFit--upbeat and amped, that is? Then Playlist is the place to meet your mat. Based on the belief that music has the “power to connect, communicate, and motivate," Playlist blends music, breath, and movement for a yoga experience different from practices with a more meditative vibe. Following a beat-bumping 60-minute Power Vinyasa, the zen version of you is sure to feel energized and inspired.

Real Food Daily —If veggies are your jam, you gotta stop at Real Food Daily (RFD). As the only LA-area restaurant serving a “100 percent plant-based menu using foods grown exclusively from organic-farming methods," it's a great foodie spot whether you're new to vegan fare or if animal-free is your eating style of choice. The menu offers a wide variety of options, including meatless burgers and sandwiches, colorful salads, and mouthwatering main dishes, such as quesadillas, pasta, and tacos.

The Detox Market —For skincare, hair, and body products as pure and healthy as the fresh foods you use to fuel your body, drop by The Detox Market. The brand's dedication to a “green beauty movement" all started when Founder Valérie Grandury, a health and wellness coach, was battling breast cancer. Her defensive strategy was to rid her body of chemical-based beauty products--and it worked. The later result is a store filled with products that make you look and feel your best, both inside and out.

Jar —Be prepared to have your taste buds delighted at this critically acclaimed restaurant regularly ranked among the best in Los Angeles since opening in 2001. If you can peek into the kitchen, you may even recognize Jar's owner and Executive Chef Suzanne Trach from Bravo's Top Chef Masters. With it's modern chophouse-style, expect food to be an elite eating experience. Start your meal with oysters on the half shell. Then move onto pan-roasted Wild King salmon with sides of duck-fried rice and baby broccoli. And in the weak chance that you have room left, go for broke with a slice of banana cream pie drizzled in caramel sauce—you can work it off later.

The Good Life Eatery —Destined to bring something fresh and healthy to London's food scene, the owners of The Good Life Eatery set out to create full-of-flavor food that's simple and good-for-you, too. Pair up one of their superfood bowls made with ingredients fit for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with the eatery's signature juices. These are made fresh and pressed with hydraulic juicers to get all the bits of nutritional vitamins, enzymes, and minerals without losing any of the delicious taste.

Cowshed —Walking into some spas can feel like entering a new age retreat complete with burning incense and piped-in sounds of crashing ocean waves. While that's one way to relax, Cowshed chose to hold true to its British country roots, offering a more rustic farmhouse vibe.
