Camille Leblanc-Bazinet Shares How She Recovers from Intense Workouts
Each year, there are athletes we cross our fingers for and hope will qualify for the CrossFit Games. But, Camille Leblanc-Bazinet is not one of those athletes. At this point, we don’t have to hope Leblanc-Bazinet qualifies; we just expect she will.
And she does.
At only 29 years young, Leblanc-Bazinet already has eight CrossFit Games appearances under her belt. She has proven herself a staple on the Games competition floor. And yet last year, despite qualifying, she was missing from the action for the majority of the competition, withdrawing due to a shoulder injury after only two events.

Next month, one year since that injury and mere months since undergoing shoulder surgery, Leblanc-Bazinet will step onto the floor (or field or road or pool) and vie for the title of Fittest Woman on Earth at her ninth CrossFit Games.
Just how is she returning to elite competition so quickly? A lot of hard work, patience and an increased focus on recovery practices are what propelled her here.
And now, in the video above, she is opening up about exactly what this recovery entails. Hint: there’s more to it than taking a nap.
“We put so much damage on our body and our brain that our recovery day is really to let those heal,” says Leblanc-Bazinet, who takes one day each week completely off of training and dedicates a second day of the week solely to active recovery activities like swimming or light running.
“I feel like people put a lot of energy into their training and not so much on the recovery side,” she adds.
Leblanc-Bazinet hopes that by sharing a few of her recovery tips – everything from the nutrition to stretching – other athletes, of all abilities, will recognize just how critical recovery is to their progress and overall health.
